Why does Siemens refer to the S7-300 discontinuation as “Type Discontinuation” instead of cancellation?

Siemens’ standard lifecycle model designates the P.M410 phase as the “Cancellation” or “Discontinuation” stage. However, the official Product Discontinuation Notice (PDN) for the S7-300 and ET200M refers to this phase as “Type Discontinuation.”

This term highlights that the entire product family is being phased out, not just individual components. This stage, P.M410, is clearly distinguished from P.M490. With the latter, all support and replacement parts will be officially discontinued.
